Alveyworld Required Resources

1. Gmail account.
Every member of Alveyworld is required to have a gmail account.
All assignments must be submitted by gmail to alvey@pineview.org
If you don't have a gmail account, go to http://gmail.com/ and sign up.
(You are responsible for remembering your username and password, so write it down!)
2. Weebly website.
Every member of Alveyworld must maintain a portfolio* website using weebly.
Sign up for a weebly website at http://weebly.com/ using your gmail address.
Email your weebly address to alvey@pineview.org (example: http://johndoe.weebly.com)
Use weebly to journal the topics you learn and present the work you do.
Create a blog page and update your blog everyweek!
Be safe. Do not post personal contact information on your portfolio website!
*The portfolio will graded each quarter

Alveyworld Computer Basics

- Login using your school wide computer account and password
- Use firefox as your default web browser
- Bookmark alveyworld.pineview.org and other important websites
- Save your files online using google drive or dropbox, local files might not be saved.
- The programs for each class are on the dock at the bottom of the screen
- Look in the top left corner to see which program is active (closing a window doesn't close the program)
- Find files and programs using the spotlight (top right corner, looks like a magnifying glass)
- Copy is Command-C, Paste is Command-V , Undo is Command-Z
Command-Q quits a program, Command-Tab shows all open programs
(In general apple uses the command key the same way windows use the control key) - Click the apple in the top left corner to logout

In Alveyworld we like to have fun, but we maintain order.
Please follow these procedures and remember my one rule: RESPECT.

- Beginning of Class
- Check calendar
- Check email
- Get to work
- End of Class
- Work until 1 minute before the bell rings
- Save your work, logout, tuck in chairs, tidy up
- Hall Passes for Breaks (Bathroom, drinks, etc.)
- Ask for a hall pass, take your break and return quickly
- Only 2 people can be out at time
- Remote Desktop Instructions
- If all computers are locked: Turn fully aroundm and give me your full attention
- If your computer is individually locked: You are in trouble!
- Warning - 2 minutes locked
- Email sent to your parents
- School computer account disabled
